A boy from a good family loses his mother early in life. Closer to his brother than to his father, he travels far from home, and becomes a well-respected actor.
This is the background of Lawrence Talbot, the lead character in the hit movie The Wolfman, and of the leading man who plays him, Puerto Rican superstar Benicio del Toro. Son of well-to-do lawyers in Santurce, the boy who played basketball and watched monster movies lost his mother at nine. Four years later, he was sent to a boarding school in Pennsylvania; later, he discovered the stage at the University of California, and developed into an actor of amazing range, eventually winning the Oscar®, the Golden Globe®, and many international awards.
