Passion & Drama

Marlene Favela tells us about her latest telenovela Corazón Apasionado and what it’s like to work with hunky costar Guy Ecker.

Mexican telenovela star Marlene Favela brings passion and romance into your life every afternoon with her latest telenovela Corazón Apasionado on Univision, and according to Marlene, it’s even hotter than your typical telenovela. “There is extreme passion between the two main characters—along with melodrama, lies, heartbreak, and betrayal. The public will fall in love, laugh and cry with us.”

Marlene plays Patricia Campos Miranda a tough as nails rich girl who runs her family’s ranch. Patricia’s determined attitude is something that Marlene can relate to. “Like Patricia, when I want something, I fight for it and I don’t let anyone get over on me.” The sparks start to fly when the new foreman, Armando Marcano played by the Brazilian actor Guy Ecker, starts to work at the ranch. Behind all that chemistry on screen is respect and amiability off screen. “There is a lot of sizzle between this couple, but the scenes were done in a respectful way. Guy Ecker is an extraordinary actor.”

Favela, who has been acting since she was 18 years old, became famous for roles in telenovelas like La Gata Salvaje and El Zorro: La Espada y la Rosa. In 2007 she went Hollywood with her role in Species: The Awakening. Now at 35 Marlene feels she still has a long way to go with her career. “In this business you never stop learning. Success is not bought. With each project. I start from zero where I have to woo the public to fall in love with me all over again.”
