Host Lili Estefan talks about her experience as a judge on the show Mira Quién Baila.

Last October, television celebrity Lili Estefan received an unexpected phone call. “I received an emergency call from the vice-president of talent,” remembers Lili. “They needed me Sunday. And I was like ‘Oh my God. It must be about the show Mira Quién Baila.’” Already in its ninth week, Univision’s mega-hit primetime dance show needed to replace former judge Mexican singer Alejandra Guzmán. “She had missed one or two shows because of work and personal problems and she couldn’t do it,” she adds.

Invited back to be a judge for the show’s second season this fall, the 44-year-old Cuban native knows exactly what makes a winner. “You have to have self- confidence and dance as if you were a prima ballerina. It has to come from the heart.”

Her own ideal dance partner is Raúl de Molina, who has been her co-host for the past 12 years in the afternoon entertainment show
El Gordo y La Flaca. “El Gordo is a tremendous dancer. He thinks he is the best,” she says with a chuckle.
